Head to Toe Clothes For Your Bike Ride

Your head is the most important part of your body to keep safe. Every time you ride, make sure you wear a helmet that is durable and can withstand a fall in case one occurs. Treat your helmet like you would a car seatbelt. Strap it on every time you ride!

Most cyclists aim to layer up even in the summer time. This is totally fine as long as your layers consist of lightweight and breathable material. If you wear a base layer, it will help absorb sweat. On top of your base layer, wear a full-length front zip. This will allow you to regulate temperature as needed and provide extra protection in case of a fall.

Your cycling shorts should be snug, but not so snug that you can’t move freely. Many cyclists find that padded shorts help reduce friction while giving an added comfort factor.

Accessories That You Forgot About

Remember that the sun is a huge factor in your summer bike ride. Its heat and UV rays can have serious side effects if you don’t take the right precautions. Wear a sunscreen with high SPF and reapply every couple hours. Cycling tan lines may prove your dedication to your ride but severe sunburns could keep you out of the sun for days.

One question to ask yourself before you ride is “have I packed enough water?” While it’s important to hydrate before and after your ride, make sure to bring water bottles with you full of water and/or drinks with electrolytes. Make sure to stop for a drink often to keep your body hydrated.

Sunglasses are another great accessory that can make or break your ride. If you can’t see properly because the sun is directly in your eyes, your ride will suffer.
